What is Word Formation?

๐ŸŒฑ The Root Word (Stem)

A root word is the basic word that carries the main meaning. It's like the "power core" of a word. We can add parts to it to make new words!

๐Ÿ”ง Suffixes (End-Caps)

A suffix is a group of letters added to the END of a root word. Suffixes can change what the word means and how we use it in a sentence.

๐Ÿ’ก Remember!

The root word usually stays the same when we add suffixes. This is why we call it the "stem" - like the stem of a plant that stays strong while branches grow!
